Audio Cuts Database

This allows you to search for audio cuts. The default is File # and you can simply type in a file # and press [enter] and you will be taken to that file #.

Category allows you to select a category to jump to and will display all of the audio cuts in that category

Year allows you to find songs from a particular year.

Artist and title work very similar. It is not necessary to spell out the whole artist or title. Just a partial entry will search the entire field for a match and then display it. For example if you are searching by title and you enter [love], it will display every audio cut with the work love anywhere in the title.

You can easily change the category of the highlighted audio cut by simply using this puldown list and selecting the new category for that song.

You can make a quick category change of the highlighted audio cut simply by choosing a new category from the category pull down at the top right of the browse screen.

We will cover Editing Audio Cuts Properties further in the manual.

While playing back a song, you can slide this pointer towards the end of the file to set the ending mark of the song.

You can also set the Hook Start and End Marks by sliding the bar to a different part of the song.

Record an Audio Cut

Recording

If you press the record button on an already recorded song, you will be presented with the following Choices:

1. Overwrite this Audio Cut, Replacing ALL data
2. Re-Record this Audio Cut, Keeping Artist, Title and FileName
3. Cancel Recording, Keeping the Original Recording

The Intro and Ending marks in each audio cuts is very important to the way your station is ultimately going to sound on the air.

Setting the intro will allow for a perfect voice track. The Digital Juke Box has been designed to not allow any voice track to step on the vocals of a song. As you play back a song, simply press the Set Intro button at the point just prior to the vocals of the song playing.

When you playback an audio cut, you will be able to see exactly where you have placed the Intro of the audio cut because it will display the words “Intro Mark” at the point of the intro just above the slide bar.

Setting the ending is the place where you would like the next audio cut to start playing. The best thing you can do it start the song playing and slide the slide bar towards the end of the audio cut. Then just think of the song as if you are playing it on the air. When you get to the point where you would start the next song on the air, press the blue Set Ending button.

When you playback an audio cut, you will be able to see exactly where you have placed the Ending mark of the audio cut because it will display the words “Ending Mark” at the point of the ending just above the slide bar.

This button will jump to 15 seconds from the end of the song so you can set the ending mark.

This shows the runtime of the audio cut that you are listening to.

This is the playback level of the audio cut.

Since radio stations use compressors and limiting equipment, these levels do not need to be all the same. It would be nice if they were close.

Try to keep them bouncing need the green/red line.

The Hook Start and Hook Ending marks in each audio cut makes it sound better when you use the PLAYHOOKS command in the on-air screen to create Hook Promos of up-coming songs in the hour.

Setting the Hook Start is at the begining of the most recognizable part of the song. When you playback an audio cut, you will be able to see exactly where you have placed the Hook Start of the audio cut because it will display the words “Hook Start” at the point of the Hook Start just above the slide bar.

Setting the Hook End is at the end of the most recognizable part of the song. When you playback an audio cut, you will be able to see exactly where you have placed the Hook End of the audio cut because it will display the words “Hook End” at the point of the Hook End just above the slide bar.

Hooks Rules

1. Hooks MUST be 10 seconds or shorter.
2. Hooks that contain a Hook Start mark does not need a Hook End. The On-Air screen will play 8 seconds past the Hook Start mark unless you set a Hook End mark.
3. If you do not set any marks, The On-Air Screen will take the length of a song and devide it by 2 for the Start Hook and play 8 seconds for the Ending Mark.
4. Only Music Type can be hooked. Therefore make sure that you code only Songs as Music.

NOTICE: This is a PRO feature which requires an ongoing support plan to use.

If you have been using the search buttons and wish to view all audio cuts, you can press the Refresh Audio Cuts button.

This will allow you to copy a file to another file number leaving the original alone. Furthermore the new file name will have “Copy 2 of” appended to the second audio file.

Highlight an audio cut and press the move button. You will be asked for a new file number. Simply enter the new file number and the move will be made.

This will allow you to make a song appear to be the most rested. This means that this song will be one of the first songs to get played when you create your next schedule.

Tagging songs is what you would do if you want to make a mass change to many songs in your database.

You simply tag all of the songs that you wish to make a mass change to and then you exit out of the audio cuts database screen and choose Mass Tag Changer from the Audio Menu.

This button toggles the tag state of the audio cut and then it moves down the screen one audio cut.

Clear All Tagged Songs

If you decide to not make a mass tag change, you can simply hit this button to undo all tags at once.

You can easily import any MP2, MP3, WAV, WMA or OGG file into the Digital juke Box. We highly suggest that you put the audio cuts that you wish to import into the C:\My Music\ directory and DO NOT place them in the \JBMUSIC directory. You can not import any songs that are already in the \JBMUSIC directory.

You should choose an audio cut that is not in use. If you choose to import on a song currently being used, you will be asked to overwrite the existing file.

When you are ready to import an audio cut, it will automatically default to the C:\My Music Folder as that is the folder that we recommend you place all of your importable audio cuts. Simply highlight the song you wish to import and press the open button.

You will then be presented with this import screen that will allow you to adjust some of the properties prior to the Saving of the cut. You should select the Delete audio cut on Import button on the Import file screen so that you will not get confused as to whether you already imported a cut. this will also save youdrive space.

The next step after you import an audio cut is to listen to it and set the intro and ending marks. Then it’s ready to go on the air.

Clear All Tagged Songs

If you decide to not make a mass tag change, you can simply hit this button to undo all tags at once.

Click here to Export the current audio cut to floppy or CD Rom or another Hard Drive. It simply makes a copy to the destination drive and will not delete anything.

Simply highlight the song you wish to export and press the export button. You will be given a tree structure so you can choose where to send the audio cut to.

This will display a graph of all of the plays of an audio cut so you can see if you are getting the correct rotation.

Simply highlight any audio cut that you would like to track its play history and press the Play History button.

This is a CD Ripper that will rip one track at a time to the highlighted file number.

It also rips the Album Cover from most all Commercially available CDs and will display the cover in the lower left of the on-air screen whenever this song is played.

Clicking this button will open the Digital Editor for the highlighted audio cut.

We will explain the Digital Editor later.

When you want to delete an audio cut from your system, press the RED delete button.

Remember, if you delete an audio cut, it can cause future schedules to come up short when playing back.

Also remember that Deleting an audio cut can not be un-done. when it's deleted, it's gone forever.

When you are finished editing, make sure you EXIT the Audio Cuts Database.

NOTICE: Any changes that you wanted to occure in the On-Air screen will not take place until you EXIT the Audio Cuts Database.
